Welcome to The Pilates Studio: Body & Mind Works, Calgary’s first Pilates studio (established 1996). All of our instructors have extensive training and certifications; their diverse backgrounds - ranging from Dance, Physical Therapy, Personal Training and Massage Therapy - allow our clients to experience a multi-faceted approach to Pilates. 


Whether you are looking for a new workout or are addressing an injury or health issue, we have the instructor for you. We are located in the heart of Kensington and are looking forward to meeting you!

Through specific and controlled exercises on the Mat and specially designed equipment, Pilates works to re-balance the muscular system by strengthening the deep abdominal and back muscles which support the body (our "Core").  It also provides mobility and strength to areas such as the shoulder girdle, hips, knees, ankles and feet. It improves flexibility, muscular strength, alignment, coordination and control, while also releasing stress and tension through the integration of breath. It is appropriate for all ages, all body types, and all levels of fitness.

The Pilates Studio: Body & Mind Works is a bright, open studio with a knowledgeable, personable staff. We have 8 certified instructors who are able to meet clients' varied schedules and physical needs. We offer private, semi-private & tri-private instruction, group mat and equipment classes as well as specialty classes like Prenatal, Baby & Me, Standing Pilates and Pilates for Men. I started a journey to change my life about 8-9 months ago. I needed to change my way of thinking about exercise, food and my health/weight. I am a mother of two boys, who have kept me busy for several years, but now I needed to work on me. I think as women we get focused on so many different things that we forget about ourselves. I decided that I needed to get help to get my weight down and my health back on track. This was very scary for me, but not being there for my husband and children was even more frightening. It was time for a change. I made a commitment to get myself some help, because whatever I thought I was doing was not working. I did not know it yet, but I was about to undergo a whole lifestyle change. I began a planned food program and I needed to incorporate some exercise. I never really exercised before and I knew I was no “Jane Fonda”(man she looks good). I hated running, so what was I going to do? A girlfriend of mine recommended Pilates. I thought hmmmm…..I am going to give this a try. I made a promise to myself and I was going to keep it. I live in the SE and began to look for studios near my home. I tried 2 different Pilates instructors to see if I could do private lessons with them. When I inquired about the hours and days, the times were crazy! No weekend availability and most classes were held in the morning and ranged from 10:00am-2:00pm. I work during the week and this was not going to fit into my schedule. I went back online, again…and found Body and Mind Works. I could see that they had different class times, instructors and were able to accommodate the “working mom”. I called and signed up for my first trial private lesson with Stacey. This is where things begin to get really good……… I had the most fantastic experience. Stacey was friendly, knowledgeable and was interested in helping me reach my goals. After that first class, I signed right on the spot for private lessons with her. Over the next few sessions, I was changing, my body was changing. I was getting my strength back, not only in my body, but my spirit as well. Stacey gave me exercises to do at home. I worked on my Pilates and my “core” in the mornings when my house was quiet and I could focus on me, even if it was only for 30 minutes. Best 30 minutes of my day. Saturdays when Stacey and I get together, it is one of the best days of the week. As we spent more time together, she became one of my biggest “cheerleaders”. As I began to lose weight and get my body strength back, she continued to challenge me. I cannot put into words how good she would make me feel when I came into the studio. When together for that hour, we would work hard and I would sweat. That feels so good. Who said I hate exercising? Now I have been with Stacey for over 6 months. What a difference!! If you could only see and talk to me now! Lol. I have become more confident and I have turned my health around and have lost 115lbs!!! My need to change was not about a dress size, but to feel better about my life, about me. At 43, my body is better than when I was in my 30’s. My husband and two boys can’t keep up with me now. I have learned that everyone who comes into your life crosses your path for a reason. Some people spend only a small moment in time with you and others can last a lifetime. Stacey has not only become my teacher, cheerleader, but she has become a friend. She has helped me change my life. I am so fortunate that I called Body and Mind Works and set-up that appointment. Words could not fully describe or express my appreciation for her constant encouragement and belief in me. All I can say is “Thank you”!! You have helped me be the person I always knew I was inside.

Our knowledgeable, personable staff of instructors allow us to customize schedules and programs dependent on individual clients' needs. Facilities

The Pilates Studio: Body and Mind Works underwent a beautiful renovation in 2014. We added an extra 1000+ square feet, accommodating all of our equipment and mat work classes into one open concept room while still maintaining a sense of intimacy for private sessions. The studio also features two private massage rooms. More highlights of our studio renovation include an improved reception and waiting area, as well as updated private change rooms with full-length mirrors and more comfortable seating - details that make our students and clients feel even more welcome.


Our Studio contains all the Pilates trademark equipment - learn to use the Cadillac, Reformer, and Stability Chair for a more flexible and powerful body. Featured are three STOTT PILATES® Reformers, four PEAK PILATES® 3-in-1 Deluxe Reformer/Tower units, four STOTT PILATES® Split-Pedal Stability Chairs, and a STOTT PILATES® Cadillac. Our Mat work area features hardwood floors, floor-to-ceiling mirrors, and Stability Barres. Props such as stability balls, BOSUs, mini balls, toning balls, fitness circles and resistance bands are available to provide support or challenge to your training. Individual mats are provided for mat classes.


For your comfort, and if necessary to allow our Instructors to make the proper adjustments to your technique, we suggest students wear clothing such as t-shirts, tank-tops, and leggings or shorts. Snug, stretchy clothing is preferable, while loose garments and accessories such as long jewellery and belts are not recommended. 

For your feet, we suggest wearing socks. Toesox are available for purchase at the Front Desk.
