PREGNANCY
Many
health care professionals agree that an already healthy, active woman
should be encouraged to continue exercising during pregnancy. Regular
exercise has been reported to alleviate many concerns during pregnancy
including excessive weight gain, hemorrhoids, constipation and varicose
veins. Consistency, moderation and appropriate modifications are important
factors to keep in mind during prenatal exercise. There are many physiological
changes that occur in the mother that will ultimately affect the fetus.
We must also take into consideration that every woman's pregnancy
is different and that there are several conditions which should be
considered contraindications to exercise during pregnancy. Doctor's
permission should be acquired before embarking on any exercise
program.
To
better address the needs of expecting moms we are now offering Prenatal
Pilates as well as Baby & Me classes.

Prenatal
Pilates
This class helps expecting mothers in their
1st, 2nd, or 3rd trimester to develop awareness of the pelvic floor
muscles, relieve tension and discomfort in the lower back and joints,
as well as deliver and recover quicker and easier. Spine supporters
are used to place the body in a more upright position, therefore keeping
exercises safe.
